Features

We obsess about the details we think journalists and audiences should have in an election guide. The things we never had time to build during election cycles in a newsroom.

Have any idea for a feature or improvement? You can always email hello@electup.com. As a small team, we can promise a real human who works on the product will read your email and get back to you.

Election topics

You choose the topics your guide will feature, which can include questions with direct responses from candidates, reported information, and comparisons of initiatives and ballot measures. The platform handles the organization; the news judgment and layout are yours.

Candidate surveys

The topics you choose turn into survey questions for candidates, with options for limiting response length and multiple-choice answers.

Enter candidate emails and then share the same link with all the candidates. By entering their email they get a secure, individual “magic link” to fill out their responses, which populate the guide in ElectUp. You can optionally edit their responses or publish them as-is.

Rich voter guides

New in 2026, voters can choose their location on a map or enter their address and get a ballot filtered to their location (assuming availability of official maps from voting authorities – get in touch in advance so we can track those down).

Simple embedding on your site

We’ve developed a rich script embed and invested heavily in design, voter experience, and compatibility with news CMSs.

  1. Drop a simple <script> embed tag in your site
  2. Optional: style it to match your brand (we’ve tried to give you a head start there – it picks up styles from the page around it)
  3. You’re good to go. You can publicize the guide, link directly to specific sections, and even create customized embeds for specifc regions
